Be in the driver’s seat of your lifestyle.

Last week I chatted on FB about lifestyle, and what it meant to create or live a lifestyle. So many programs out there are calling what they offer a lifestyle, but in reality, it isn’t OUR lifestyle.

When we think of lifestyles, it’s important to consider ourselves. What we enjoy, what brings us joy, what triggers us, what our daily lives are like, what attitudes we have around things, what our values are, etc. To create a lifestyle, means to find what works for us day in and day out that allows us to live the life we want to live. Yes, balance is important, but how can we incorporate healthy into our daily lives, without sacrificing our happiness, time, energy and mindset.

I am a firm believer in the 80/20 rule. To live a life that is sustainable, it is important to create habits that are not restrictive and give us some freedom. Freedom to not to overthink everything we put in our mouths. Freedom to eat a treat on any day we want, in moderation of course. Freedom to not stress about what fits where and when. Food serves the purpose to fuel our bodies. To give us energy. But also is part of our culture in celebrating, having fun, etc. And guess what, that is A OK. Yes, it shouldn’t be daily. But part of life. After logging daily for over a year, I was tired. I was obsessive. I was sick of burying my face in my phone every time I went to eat. To me, tracking is part of the journey, but not the entire journey. It is to do for a few weeks at a time to reset. It is to do when we think our intuitiveness may be off or need to be checked. It is great to get us started on a journey and learn how to eat, what to eat, and properly fuel our bodies. We each know our bodies and what works and doesn’t work. Nothing is a one size fits all program or lifestyle. Only YOU know your body well. Only YOU know your habits, what works and doesn’t work for YOU! So as you work on any journey related to health and wellness, I encourage you to work with someone, 1:1 that will take your best interest to heart and help you find what works for you long term, while also reaching your goals. Individuality is so important when it comes to our health and wellness. No person is made the same. We must take all components of life and lifestyles into account when starting a journey that we want to stick to.

As someone who has struggled with this myself, it has become my passion to work with others like me to find that right fit, that right plan, that works for them long term and keeps them safe and healthy along the way. I can’t wait to help you create your journey and build a healthy lifestyle you enjoy. Always remember, it is about you! I will leave you with this quote I love about creating a lifestyle for us.

“Your best weight is whatever weight you reach when you’re living the healthiest life you actually enjoy.”
