Negativity becoming overwhelming? Why we need to fix that!

If you’ve seen photos of old horse trailer tracks, you’ll notice the deep grooves that they’ve created in the ground. When you’re in the deep grooves, it’s almost impossible to pull yourself out of the track and get on a different track. That visual is a pretty close visual to the negative feedback loop that can easily occur within us. Our thoughts create this path within our body and mind. The more we feed into that path, the deeper the grooves become, making it harder to get out of them. I’m sure that we’ve all found ourselves in these grooves before, finding it near impossible to get out of our way and out of these negative patterns.

With so much going on in the world, it’s easy for us to find ourselves thinking negatively. The more that this happens the harder it is biologically to pull ourselves out of this negative way of thinking. It is so important that we practice self-care and start the day with positive thoughts daily, especially over the coming weeks. Here are some ways Autumn and Katharine help combat negativity.

For Autumn, her house has a nighttime routine that always brings the day into perspective. They each write on a post-it the best part of their day and then three blessings of the day. They then take those post-its and stick them on the bathroom mirror. Although this is a nighttime routine, it helps her to start her day off on the right track. As she brushes her teeth, she is then surrounded by what has made her happy and is able to start her day with a smile.

For Katharine, it is focusing on where the negativity comes from and not allowing it in. Negativity easily impacts her energy and motivations, so really noticing when and where the negativity is coming from and choosing to remove that from her day. Also, ensuring that every day includes something she enjoys and brings positive momentum or thoughts to her day. Sometimes this is a workout, creating something for her business, FaceTiming her nieces, or praying.

Releasing negative energy is hard work, but so beneficial. We encourage you this week to find where the negativity in your mind is coming from and put together a plan of how you will release that and focus on the positives!
